…Whether memorializing fallen coal miners or depicting classical Bacchanalian scenes, the British-born Whyte manages to capture his subject’s spiritual as well as physical qualities. A master of bronze sculptural portraiture, he has completed commissioned works for many members of the British nobility and created a slew of public monuments, including a life-sized seated statue of Dr. John Roberts, Seaside’s founder, on display in front of City Hall.
