Of the thousands of people who filled out the 2006 Best of Monterey County Readers Poll ballot, less than 100 filled out item 177: Best Wild Card Category. Presumably the rest looked at it and said: “Huh?”

A handful took the item literally and suggested only categories. Some readers selected winners—in what category we can only guess. Others created the category and declared the winner—you gotta admire that.
