SQUID ON TV NEWS:
Squid on TV News
The Weekly's ruthless cephalopod takes a beady-eyed look at local nightly newscasts.
•••EPILOGUE•••
It’s done. Squid has spent a week studying local TV news, and what has Squid learned? Squid still loves TV. Squid’s still feels an affection (albeit not uncritical) for the local news channels. Squid still likes the local television personalities—maybe even more than Squid did at the outset of this project. And Squid still feels the way Squid did back in college: If this “news” they do on television is journalism, it’s unreal.
Squid does not believe that the view of Monterey County and the rest of the world that we get on TV every night is entirely accurate. Squid believes what we get from the TV news is distorted. It’s a little warped.
Squid believes that our world is a better place than the one we see on TV most nights. And a smarter place.
Just not as good looking.
Maybe things will get better. Squid will tune in next week and find out. Or not.
