SEAL WATCH | COUNTYWIDE—Have you seen a harbor seal with a funny-looking tag? The Marine Mammal Center asks members of the public to report sightings of tagged seals along the California Coast for the Harbor Seal Health Project, a study of the effects of pollutants and environmental factors. Rehabilitated seals are released with brightly colored hat-shaped tags with numerical codes. If you see one, please do not disturb the seal, but note the number and color of the tag, the time and location of the sighting, and the general condition of the animal. Report the data to The Marine Mammal Center at sealhat@tmmc.org or 415-289-7350.
