P.G. library, Carmel Valley votes could still swing.
As of the Monterey County Election Department's last report, around midnight on Election Night, Measure G (Carmel Valley incorporation) was going down 52 to 48 percent, and Measure J (the parcel tax to support the Pacific Grove library) was 1.44 percentage points shy of the 66.67 percent approval needed to pass.
Both measures are close enough to swing as the department tallies the remaining ballots. Measure J is particularly close: In the semi-official tally, only 47 more Yes votes would have given it the two-thirds approval needed to pass.
Throughout the county, about 8,500 ballots remain to be counted, according to Assistant Registrar Claudio Valenzuela, but he says the department doesn't track remaining ballots by measure.
The department is scheduled to tally the remaining votes Nov. 13, Valenzuela says. The vote will be certified by Nov. 23.
