Sea Otter Classic is quite the party for cycling.
On Saturday afternoon, dozens of rider suited up—in literal suits—to race five laps around the Laguna Seca track for the Brompton folding bike race. Many riders interpreted the directions for wearing a suit liberally and adorned their outfits with everything from whacky patterns to a cheese head with Wisconsin colors to a classic red British military-style jacket worn by race winner Nate King.
Later that day, hundreds of spectators gathered with cold drinks, flags and noise makers to watch the men's and women's pro dual slalom finals. A group of regular fans from the Sacramento area who have shown up the last few years waved giant American flags and chanted "Freedom!" and "USA! USA!" as each rider soared down the twisty course.
Down in the expo area, people wandered through looking at bike parts and enjoying a smattering of food and drink, including a special Sea Otter ale from Sierra Nevada brewing.
Editor's note: The original post stated one of the Brompton racers wore a Napoleon-style jacket. It's a British military-style jacket.
