Valley Soul

Band members Kevin Call, Kristen Gradwohl, Tommy Howbert, Adam Ingram, Joe Scardina, Richard Tripps.

Indie folk-rockers Valley Soulreally a jam band (at heart)—delivers layered instrumental parts, four-part harmonies and an overall expansive live sound.

After seeing the outfit open for Lillie Lemon, it became clear that there is, indeed, a full-fledged jam band inside these guys in the vein of Rusted Root. Singer Kristen Gradwohl looked like a human dreamcatcher, prancing around barefoot, immersed, as if she was participating in a Huichol Peyote ritual. Another convincing factor: Her voice resembles Grateful Dead part-time back-up vocalist Donna Jean Godchaux.
