The Wonderful World of Lichens

The California Native Plant Society thinks that people will take a “likin’ to lichens”. After all, they come in enough different colors to captivate the eye. Lichens are the colorful festoons that coat local rocks and trees and are members of the bryophyte family. Listen to Bob Hale, son of Mason Hale a lichenologist speak about these unique species. Bob didn't follow in his father's footsteps when he decided to pursue a career in meteorology. Nevertheless, his father, who focused family's vacations on lichen collecting, taught him more than most people could ever know.
