The fourth evening of the Monterey International Film Festival features an odd pairing of movies. One is Ang Lee's Chinese martial arts epic Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, while the second feature is the German import Wings of Desire, a poetic film about an angel attempting to join the ranks of humanity. A cursory glance at the two does not reveal any similarities, so there's a chance that the only thing in common between these works is that they are both exceptionally well made. [ST]
