Jill Jackson hosts a multiple performance medley from talented Bay Area artists, under the direction W. Kamau Bell, called "1x5". It includes five solo pieces such as
"Voice Lessons" by saxophonist Bobby Nakamoto, a spoken word autobiographical journey, set to music, of his "road less traveled" in music after a career as a school psychologist. "Soft Tissue" is a dance piece by Tani Nakamoto and asks questions about women's inner lives. The other three artist pieces include Martha Rynberg's monolgue "One Speck," Julia Jackson's (worked with Robin Williams and Dana Carvey) monologue "I Didn't Sign Up For This," and Melissa Hudson's whimsical dance piece "Peanut Butter Mudboots and Other Sticky Situations."
8pm/Fri-Sat; 2pm/Sun. Carl Cherry Center for the Arts, Guadalupe and Fourth, Carmel. $15. 402-9937, 915-9060. http://www.ticketguys.com.
