Celebrated vocal ensemble Cantiamo! joins Ensemble Monterey Chamber Orchestra for a diverse concert of modern and traditional masterworks. Featured is a new composition by Tarik O'Regan entitled The Ecstasies Above--based on the Edgar Allen Poe poem of the same name--making its West Coast debut after an acclaimed performance last year at Yale University. The performance also includes a lyrical setting of the epic Dylan Thomas poem "Fern Hill," composed by John Corigliano, Carl Nielsen's Little Suite for Strings and Cecil Effinger's Four Pastorales, featuring oboist Angie Burtz. The concert is conducted by John Anderson with special guest conductor and Gail Rich award-winner Cheryl Anderson. A free talk, "Insights from the Conductor" and audience reception preceeds the show.
