The annual Santa Fly-In celebrates the 50th Anniversary by welcoming Santa Clause and Ms. Clause from their flight from the North Pole. Making a transition from light weight aircraft to a helicopter Santa arrives in style then boards his shiny red sleigh pulled by human reindeer with Ms. Clause and some local children along for the ride. Also, cartoonist Bill Bate’s creative and funny Cartoon of Santa’s high-tech crashing sled cremates 50 years of successful Fly-Ins that first began in 1958. The Parade boasts extravagant floats from the Fire department, Chamber of Commerence and Community Center each decorated with holiday décor. The parade follows along Carmel Valley road to the Carmel Shopping Village Community Center where Santa and Ms. Clause meet with children and mingle among the cheerful locals. [SL]
