The Bay Area keeps our county steady sippin' on energetic rap and hip-hop acts like this action-packed bill that stars The Federation from Fairfield, CA. Their music has the hyped up hyphy beats and synths, but it's also got strains of the Dirty South like the smooth neo-soul singing on "She Go" that recalls Outkast. On songs like "My Rimz" (big ups to them for sampling Al B. Sure's "Night and Day") and "Happy I Met You," featuring Snoop Dogg, these guys let it be known they're all about California love. G Dub and Blacc Bluto give shouts out all over the world (a "konishiwa" goes out to the freaks in Japan). Their beats and music are as innovative as The Feds', and, likewise, their lyrics stay true to the Bay Area's hyphy orbit. They're joined by The Lee Earl, body paint artist Kemic One, BayssRockz and Ashley. DJ Juan Burgandy and Showbiz warm up the crowd. Tix can be got at Vinyl Revolution, Music Zone, Dial-A-Video, Fox Theater. [WR]
