Funk band Sage has been around since 1969. Just try to name five bands that have endured for so long. (Bands that reunite to milk their nostalgic, affluent fans don't count.) In fairness, the line-up has changed over time, but Sage's dedication to music has not. They've been compared to funk royalty like Tower of Power and Sly and the Family Stone. Though they do covers of big name acts from the '80s like Steve Winwood, Steely Dan and Phil Collins, their latest CD, Funksway, is full of meaty cuts of original music, with many Tower of Power musicians sitting in.
