China, the world's fastest-growing economy, and its role in the U.N., will be addressed by noted authority Dr. Thomas Gold of UC Berkely in a local U.N. Association lecture, "The Emerging Role of China in World Affairs." Chinese Oscar-nominated film, Curse of the Golden Flower, with superstars Chow Yun-Fat and Gong Li, follows. Golden Flower, shown in Mandarin with English subtitles, is an historical fictional depiction of an imperial family in 10th century T'ang Dynasty China. [SL]
