In the movie Pride, Terrance Howard plays James "Jim" Ellis, a black swim coach who, in the 1970s, coached a group of black kids in Philadelphia to acclaim, in the hopes of saving a condemned community swimming pool. Bernie Mac, as Elston, plays antagonist to Howard before taking his side in the struggle to excel at a traditionally white sport. The real Jim Ellis will speak before the screening about his experience at this Black History Month event.
