With the organic food movement in full swing, it was just a matter of time before someone applied the same principles to beer and wine. Curious how it tastes? Well slate your curiosity--and your thirst--at this first annual organic beer and wine tasting-tour of eight wines and eight beers. None, unfortunately, are local, but maybe something in this line-up will inspire some homegrown brewmasters or vintners--just putting it out there. A rep from the Mendocino Wine Company will pour and expound on bio-dynamic (sustainably grown and harvested) wines from Paul Dolan, Parducci and other wineries. Beers like Sam Smith, Pinkus and Green's gluten-free, hail from Belgium, England and the Czech Republic--not the most carbon neutral route, but neither are our clothes, and we still wear them. Depending on how these libations are received, there may be a second annual organic beer and wine tasting. And maybe then we'll see some local contenders? Till then, cheers. [WR]
6-8pm. East Village Coffee Lounge, 498 Washington St., Monterey. $8. 373-5601. http://www.eastvillagecoffeelounge.com.
