Faraway Boys engulf the Lounge Underground in a chiaroscuro whirlwind of melancholy and madness as they navigate tunes from their new release Pirate Ship Sets Sail, an album that oscillates between Morrissey-esque vocals and punk-inspired revelries. Faraway Boys run the gamut from slow and steady rockabilly to fast and in-your-face punk rock. Tunes like “Situations Change” reflect influences by the Clash, while rich vocals and moody instrumentation in songs like “Cowboy Moon” evoke dark '80s classics like “The Killing Moon.” With their eclectic sound and genre-crossing, "psychobilly" may be just the right term for the Faraway Boys’ musical mélange.
