Trumbo: Red, White & Blacklisted at Carl Cherry

To commemorate their 60th year of "celebrating artistic freedom," the Carl Cherry Center for the Arts stages four weeks of plays, films and art that revisit the infamous Hollywood Red Scare. The series has been christened "Blacklisted" and includes the flaghip theater piece Trumbo: Red, White & Blacklisted. The play was written by Christopher Trumbo, who chronicled his father Dalton Trumbo's political and artistic struggles against the House Un-American Activities Committee. Dalton Trumbo, who wrote Spartacus, Roman Holiday and Johnny Got His Gun, was imprisoned and then shunned by Hollywood. [WR]
