Three-piece S.F. band French Miami would have fit nicely on the Lost in Translation soundtrack. Their sound is a mash-up of tasty bits of Arcade Fire, Pavement stutter rock, '70s synth chords, New Romantic deadpan singing. But they are their own band--and a damn exciting one at that. Fellow Bay Area band Master Slash Slave explain themselves thusly: "The White Stripes and Kraftwerk arguing with Interpol over what to wear." Marina's Silhouette Era back up torchy singing with uptempo, indie guitar strokes that translate into cool, quirky songs. This is their debut show. [WR]
