On Broadway, John Patrick Shanley’s Doubt, was hailed as a “monumental achievement,” looking in depth at church politics and the clash between certainty and ambiguity in faith. Set in 1964 at a Catholic school, the play tells the story of a strong-minded woman faced with a difficult decision regarding her new male colleague, the liberal Father Flynn, and her church background.
