"El Baile de Los Cascarones" is a ball consisting of the breaking of confetti-filled egg shells, and dancing. It has been a Monterey tradition since the first days of Spanish settlement, and was written about by Walter Colton. The tradition was rekindled in 1939, and remains a link to Monterey's interesting past. Bring your black tie attire or Spanish costume, either will do.
