The third and final night of CSUMB's portion of this UCSC-based film festival offers two films--and Superhero Movie is definitely not one of them. Maquilapolis observes the effects that globalization on both sides of the U.S.-Mexican border, centered around Tijuana. Made in L.A. follows three immigrants from their work in a Los Angeles sweatshop to their struggle for basic labor protections and human dignity. These films do what all the best films do: puts the audience in someone else's life for a spell. [WR]
