The latest reincarnation of Luis Valdez' seminal musical/play lies in the hands of three"All-Star" student cast members, and plays in three Monterey county cities--Salinas, King City and Monterey. The action revolves around the Sleepy Lagoon murders of 1940s Los Angeles in which hundreds of young Chicanos were rounded up as "the usual suspects" of a murder, subverting due process. It rolls up Greek theater, myth, musical and social commentary into an entertaining statement of protest. [WR]
