MMA is charmed with the synergy thing. They invite the Youth Arts Collective to fill their crisp space with young, vibrant works of art from each YACster; stock the birthday reception with Eddison & Melrose hors d' oeuvres and wine; hire a band; and then, because it's the third Thursday, they don't charge a nickel for the affair. YAC, an after-school art studio for young'uns 14-22, nourishes the next generation of artists that will, in turn, nourish Monterey County's arts scene. MMA for sure owns the third Thursday of each month. [WR]
