Law enforcement officers and Special Olympics athletes carry Olympic torches through the streets of Monterey County as they begin a two-pronged, week-long journey through eleven counties and hundreds of miles, concluding in Berkeley. The Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run of the West Bay Region raises money and awareness for Special Olympics with the help of over 75 agencies. The day's events begin at the King City Police Department at roughly 7:45am and end at Marina City Hall at approximately 3pm. The torch passes through Salinas, Monterey, and Seaside along the way.
