PacRep's Hyperion Project Orginal Play Competition asks California playwrights and would-be playwrights to submit new, unpublished plays for the chance to have the work staged. Los Angeles's Gary Goldstein answered the call, and here is his winning work, Curtain Call. It revolves around Patty (played by Teresa Del Piero), a mother who comes out of a coma and reflects on her family and her life--though she may not have much time to resolve all the issues she faces. The bittersweet story examines, says PacRep, "the ways we define happiness." Resident dramaturg Dan Gotch directs the world premier of Curtain Call in the intimate and innovative theater-in-the-round setting of Circle Theatre for a two-week run. Nov. 16 the play starts at 7:30pm. [WR]
