For swingers of all ages, Monterey Marriott hosts a four-hour 18-piece big band salute to the late swing alto saxophone and trombone players Jimmy & Tommy Dorsey. Historical note: Frank Sinatra had his first hit, “I’ll Never Smile Again,’’ when he was a crooner for Tommy D; their later business disagreements were the source, apocryphal, of course, of the “make him an offer he can’t refuse’’ scene in The Godfather. Also on the bill, in a “special appearance from Las Vegas’’ is vocalist Joyce Simpson. That should make you cool kats and kitties purr. [PW]
