This year the local UNA chapter expands its affecting festival to four days and 14 often-award-winning, always-illuminating documentaries. The widely diversified tales—which hail from countries like India, China, Russia, South Africa, the Philippines, Tibet, Palestine/Israel, Bangladesh and Chile—not only dig up salt-of-the-earth storylines that locals wouldn't otherwise be aware of, but explore themes that are suprisingly relevant here (think: water rights and overfishing). In other words, attendees can expect a very textured perspective on human rights, the environment, and the impacts of economic globalization. (See film story.) [MCA]
