With vocals evocative of Built to Spill’s Doug Martsch backed by pop harmonies and lyrics about underwear reminiscent of Weezer, San Diego’s The Lanterns are a retreat back to a garage in 1995 -- in sound and philosophy. The San Diego Reader calls them a band that “works under the premise that there is no premise.” The show propels forward with the energetic pop punk momentum of Weather Box and the fist pumping, danceable noise of the Novel Heroes.
