The Santa Cruz punk country band Fire Whiskey has a great little origin story. According to the quartet's Myspace site, Fire Whiskey founders Johnny Oliveria and Gavilan Gallardo met at a common friend's home where they both were trying to score weed. Though I'm sure the members of Fire Whiskey have smoked their share of marijuana, the band sounds more liquor ravaged than stoned on songs like their Social Distortion-ish update on country songwriter Don Gibson's "Sea of Heartbreak." Also on the bill is longtime Santa Cruz punk outfit Riff Raff, who have opened for Suicidal Tendencies and AFI. [ST]
