Legacy at Carl Cherry for the Arts

The Compassionate Care Alliance (CCA) and the Arts Council for Monterey County have constructed a months-long series of performances, exhibits and workshops that address "illness, death and grieving." Heavy as that sounds, the aim of their Art is the Heart of Healing initiative is to use art to comfort, such as the case for the opening event, a play called Legacy. Written by CCA's Cindy Gum, and directed by and starring Rosemary Luke, Legacy explores the relationship between a young woman and her dying grandmother. Following the performances, the audience is invited to talk with the playwright and cast members about the issues raised; the talks are moderated on Sundays.
