Kicking off the weeks-long Big Read: The Poetry of Robinson Jeffers, Dr. Lila Staples of CSUMB guest curates the Habitat of Thought exhibition that compares and contrasts Steinbeck's and Jeffers' reflections on religion, love, writing and "the landscape of California's Central Coast" with photographs and paintings. Dr. Staples dicusses the lives and artistic temperments of these two literary giants at a 3pm Saturday talk titled "Jeffers and Steinbeck's California: Word and Images" for Center members and teachers. The exhibit runs Oct. 4 to Nov. 30. Must RSVP. (See Cover story.) [WR]
