In 1849, the California Constitution was signed here at Colton Hall in Monterey. The Constitution was written in Spanish, as well as English. A bilingual reenactment commemorates the 159th anniversary of California’s momentous first Constitutional Convention. The reenactment is directed by local thespian, Kevin Hanstick, and directed by Monterey’s seminal son, Morgan Stock. Professional actors portray California’s founding fathers. Refreshments are served following the reenactment. Reservations are recommended. [SK]
