With Halloween coming soon, it’s not rare to fall in love with more than one costume. Don’t feel bad-it’s hard to chose between the endless assortments of Disney characters, cop uniforms, vampire garb, and fairy ensembles. This year, get ‘em all; Carmel’s birthday celebration doubles as a costume party. Adults, children, and even leashed pets can participate in the Grand Parade along with Mayor Sue McCloud and members of the city’s Chamber. Get a glimpse of the city’s’51 Chevy Police Car and fire engines driven by the local heroes that work to keep the city safe. Following the parade, guests are treated to a hot dog lunch and music from Carmel Rotary Blues band at the Sunset Center on San Carlos street. With all proceeds from the lunch donated to the Carmel Youth Center, Carmel-by-the-Sea gives guests a great reason to get Halloween started a bit earlier while celebrating the birthday of this iconic city. 11am-2pm. Carmel, San Carlos between 4th and 5th, Carmel. Free Admission; $5/lunch. 831-.
