Golden State Theatre's frightful (and funny, as you shall see) film festival is a feast for film lovers and Halloween aspirants. Tim Burton gets the spotlight as they screen a pair of his classics: 1988's Beetlejuice stars a stellar cast (Gina Davis, Alec Baldwin, Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder) and revolves around a zany story about a ghostly couple whose house is haunted by the living. Burton's 2005 claymation masterwork Corpse Bride features another couple (voiced by Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter) whose love transcends mortality. Both films are rife with Burton's trademark gothic atmosphere, good-natured humor and playful direction. Both films are screened on Monday and Tuesday. [WR]
