Released in 1975, The Rocky Horror Picture Show was the kind of film that appealed to a select demographic: the warped weirdos, the degenerate deviants – the fun loving freaks. Men, women, and the gender ambiguous institutionalized the maniacal movie in cinematic cult history. Parodying archetypal horror films, a young couple’s car breaks down in a torrential downpour. The button-down Brad and Janet take shelter in a kinky castle where they reluctantly receive hospitality from the bizarre, cross-dressing Dr. Frank-N-Furter. Erotic hell breaks loose when Frank-N-Furter’s golden-brief-clad hunk creation escapes from imprisonment, proceeding in a game of musical beds. In Halloween tradition, the Paper Wing Theatre presents a limited time live production of the eccentric classic, refreshing the play’s quips for timely pertinency. Set to a deliciously tacky score, audience members are encouraged to gyrate their hips and sing along to familiar tunes such as “Time Warp” and “Hot Patootie.” Midnight shows include games, and prizes for best audience costume. So break out those fishnets and corset you hide in your closet. Seating is limited. RSVP. [SK]
