NBC's “Last Comic Standing" is a little late to the comedy competition game—about 27 years late, if you use the 33rd Annual San Francisco Standup Comedy Competition as a yardstick. Coming back to the sumptuous Golden State Theatre stage, 15 comedians fire up their best five- to seven-minute routines just for the joy of bringing laughter to the audience. And a $25,000 prize probably doesn't hurt the motivation. So expect no-holds-barred comedy, meaning, get a sitter. Graduates of this grueling comedy circuit include Dane Cook, Robin Williams and Dana Carvey. Former competition winner Johnny Steele hosts, which means in between the comedy, there's more comedy.
