The Metropolitan Opera: Live in High Definition series beams, by live satellite, Met performances to movie theaters across the country. The New York opera company starts up the new season today with an eclectic and high wattage gala program, projecting onto the big screen Renee Fleming as she performs selections from Verdi, Massenet and Strauss, with Ramon Vargas, Thomas Hampson and Dwayne Croft supporting.
