Oh, yeah, chili cook-off. That should be enough to get most humans salivating and running to don their own Homer Simpson chili spoon necklace. But in case it isn't, this Carmel Valley tradition at the newly restored Holman Ranch, dubbed “Great Bowls of Fire,” offers other nourishing treats like music and dancing courtesy of the Money Band, a margarita bar, beer, wine, salad and desserts--although chili is a fine way to end a meal, too. Judging at this scrumptious festival (and Carmel Valley Chamber fundraiser) will crown Best Professional and Best Amateur Chili, as well as Best Decorated Table, although we think the best decorated table should be the one that has the best tasting chili on top of it.Sponsors include Bernardus Lodge, Chateau Julien Wine Estate and this fine publication you hold in your hands. Pick up tix at the Mid Valley UPS store, DMB Realty or Avant Garden & Home. [WR]
5:30-8:30pm. Holman Ranch, Top of Holman Road off Carmel Valley Road, Carmel Valley. $27/CVCC members; $32/general. 659-2640.
