PacRep celebrates the 19th annual Carmel Shake-speare Festival with an enthusiastic bow to William Shakespeare's deft skill with the pen. This month they stage Troilus and Cressida, an early Shakespeare play about the Trojan War that strips away the “glory” and looks hard at the injustice and “squalid truth” about war. Performed in the Circle Theater, and reapplied in a modern setting, the play is presented in the classic and intimate theater-in-the-round format and runs in repertory with the The Comedy of Errors until Oct. 19. Together, both works present an apt analogy of the weeping/laughing face of theater.
2pm Sat-Sun; 7:30pm Wed; 7:30pm Thu Oct. 9. Circle Theatre, Casanova between Eighth and Ninth, Carmel. $16-$38 general; discounts for seniors, students, children and military. 622-0100. http://www.pacrep.org/.
