How to describe such a many-splendored thing? Aside from the traditional carnival games and rides (the ferris wheel is its largest yet), this year’s Fair plays host to music galore, hypnotism, karaoke, “Circus Imagination” and MY Museum in the children’s area, a doggie dock jumping competition, microbrew and wine tastings, a text message treasure hunt, commercial fishing exhibit, art competitions, horse betting seminars, a kid salad eating competition (sneaky). Speaking of eating, be on the lookout for clam chowder samples, cake eating contest, home baked goodies, in addition to the usual menu of simple and guilty funnel cake, dogs, burgers and cotton candy. Go to website for schedule; a shuttle at Monterey Penisula Collge is a hassle-free way to go to the Fair. [WR]
