Add four helpings of Monterey Opera singers—soprano Susan Gundunas, tenor Joe Meyers, mezzo-soprano Malin Fritz, baritone Patrick Bell—to a 30-piece portion of the Monterey Bay Symphony, pour into the sumptuous Golden State Theater, have it directed by Dr. Carl Christensen, and only perform hit singles (arias) from world class operas like Mozart's The Magic Flute, Puccini's Madama Butterfly and Verdi's Rigoletto: That is how to prepare a musical feast of grand proportions that would be difficult to top unless it were free.
