"It's Opening Night" with MPC’s production of Mel Brooks’ "The Producers." This winner of 12 Tony Awards tells the story of Broadway producer Max Bialystock, who hits rock bottom with his musical version of Hamlet and yearns for the top again. He then teams up with accountant Leo Bloom to produce a theatrical disaster, under the theory that they can make more money with a flop than with a hit. Not surprisingly, things don’t go as planned. Directed by Michael Kirkland with choreography by Susan Cable. Runs through Aug. 23 on the main stage. [MS]
