Tracy Dahl, Arthur Post, Monterey Symphony at Salinas and Carmel

Famed Metropolitan Opera coloratura soprano Tracy Dahl and guest conductor Arthur Post will be presenting an entire program of music from Opera Francias, including selections from Berlioz's "Romeo and Juliette," Charles Gounod's "Symphony No. 1'' and arias from Ambroise (CQ) Thomas' "Mignon'' and "Hamle" Gounod's"Romeo et Juliette' and Giacomo Meyerbeer's "L'africaine." The pieces were chosen by Dahl to match her voice, which has been described by Opera Magazine, as "filled with sunshine, rainbows and laser light." Guest condcutor Post made his debut in Berlin in 1993, and has collaborated with artists including Reneee Fleming, Samuel Ramey, Lorin Maazel, James Galway, Sarah Chang and Hilary Hahn. Francophiles and opera fans can delight in this rare appearance, first at Sherwood Hall Saturday, then Sunset Center Sunday and Monday. [PW]
