Retired and restless, Fred Gilberd convinced his wife, Pam, to embark on a major remodeling project on a dilapidated Carmel Valley ranch house. It tested their relationship, their nerves , their finances and their sense of humor. But they emerged from the ordeal wisened, with a fine home, and material for a book, told he-said-she-said style from each of their perspectives, called Under the Carmel Valley Sun: An Adventure in Remodeling, Relationships and Red Wine.
