The Stanimals’ New Year’s Eve show will mark the return of Bill Laymon, the longtime bassist for the southern/country rock outfit, New Riders of the Purple Sage. But frontman Stan Russell, also has an impressive resume; the onetime Big Sur resident, recently recorded a tune with Beach Boy Al Jardine, at his Red Barn Studio. In fact, every member of the band has toured with bigwig bands over the years. As the Stanimals, the longtime, touring musicians jam for hours, playing everything from The Grateful Dead to originals.
