The Met's Orfeo ed Euridice at Century Cinema

Christoph Willibald Gluck tailored his most popular opera to fashion the tastes of 16th century, both in libretto and music, essentially simplifying it. New York's Metropolitan Opera enlists the talents of mezzo-soprano Stephanie Blythe, soprano Danielle de Niese, director Mark Morris and conductor James Levine to mount the opera, based on the myth of Orpheus. Then they harness hi-def satellite technology to beam the production, live, to lucky cities like us. [WR]
