Think of tonight’s rock en Español showcase as a salsa with enough kick to tickle your tongue but not too much heat to kill the roasted tomato flavor. San Jose’s Susiniestra will warm up the crowd with mellow rock meanderings. Corazon Atomico layers distorted, alt-rock seasonings with a poppy flare. (The Salinas band’s young members double as black belt, business man, pimp and super model, according to their Myspace page.) Save your skanking moves though for Salinas’ Mortero De Piedra, who blend cumbia and ska with Santana-like guitar licks. Mortero’s spicy tune “Pacha Mama” calls for double dipping. [ZS]
