Before embarking on a European tour, Nevada City based folksinger Mariee Sioux performs a warm-up show at Big Sur's Fernwood. On "Two Tongues" Sioux mixes Native American lyrics and flute with folk music, while "Buried in Teeth" features a thicket of surreal, nature based imagery including lines like: "buried in teeth/ Can't tell if I've got rivers or veins/ Running under my skin/ And flowing out over the plains." Also on the bill are Nico Georis of Palo Colorado, Paper Leaves (Big Sur folkie Levi Strom) and Dearest from Bolinas. [ST]
9pm. Fernwood Resort, 39 Highway 1, Big Sur. No Cover. 667-2422. http://fernwoodbigsur.com/.
